[ Catch Me As I Fall ]
[ The Basics ]
Name Meaning: "Spirit of both Light and Darkness." This is her assumed name. Her real name is Eizou Musei ("Silent Silhouette"), but as she's wanted by the Japanese government, she doesn't go by it anymore.
Nick Name: Yingi ; Muu (only if she ever tells you her real name).
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi-sexual
[ Sweet Ruptured Light ]
[ Appearances ]
Hair: Shen's hair is naturally a deep indigo color, but to better hide her identity she dyes it dark brown. As her head was shaved when she lived in the monastery in Tibet, she has since allowed it to grow out in the year she's returned to Japan. Her hair is naturally thick with some wispy, lightly wavy elements to it, but it is mostly straight. Presently, it is down just to her shoulders, with some layering to it. It is parted very dramatically on her left side, almost always obscuring the right half of her face from view.
Face & Eyes: Shen is incredibly pale, so much so that she usually has to use a parasol on sunny days. When you can actually see her face beyond her bangs, she looks almost like she stepped out of a Japanese water-color painting; narrow eyes and face, a small, dainty nose and somewhat full lips. She is very classically pretty, though she does her best to hide her features; Shen is very careful about her identity, and wears a pair of fake thick black glasses in her daily life. However, the most startling thing about her is not her face, but her eyes; they are such a pale grey-blue that they almost look white. They are eerie and haunting to look at, and most unsettling. However, unlike her hair, no matter what color her contacts are, her natural eye color always shows. Hence, the glasses.
Body Type: TALL. Shen is impossibly tall, even for a man, let alone a Japanese woman. Standing at the height of 6'4", she sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the short populace of Tokyo. Thankfully, her growth spurt didn't happen until after she fled the country. Aside from her height, Shen has a very sleek and toned body type; she is muscular, but more lined like a martial artist then a body builder. She has broad shoulders and somewhat wide hips, while her waist is boyish and her breasts are about a C cup.
Clothing Style: Although Shen spent most of her time wearing robes while in the monastery and enjoys their comfort, she knows it would draw more unwanted attention to her, so she tries to dress plainly and somewhat in fashion. She still enjoys wearing loose fitting, comfortable clothing, opting to wear pants over skirts (just in case she needs to make a break for it). She tries to keep herself as covered as much as possible, due to her very fair skin. She's taken a shine to off-the-shoulder shirts, however, and also has quite the collection of trendy scarves. Otherwise, plain would probably be the best way to describe her fashion sense. Shen prefers to wear darker, muted colors, but will wear white and grey from time-to-time.
[ Don’t Turn Away ]
[ A Look Deeper ]
Personality: Although Shen sticks out like a sore thumb due to her massive height, most people don't know a whole lot about her.
To the outside world, Shen is an introverted Chinese woman trying to make a living outside of Communist rule. She's flighty and avoids talking to people if she can, feigning poor understanding of Japanese as an excuse. But, to even to other Chinese denizens of the apartment complex she lives in, she's still a rather reserved and keeps to herself most of the time. Shen has built up multiple barriers around herself, so much that even her boss at the Curio shop doesn't quite understand her.
If you do manage to get her into conversation, it's very clear she's not as flighty or simple-minded as she makes herself to be. Shen has a very level head on her shoulders, and "flows like the stream," according to her co-workers. On the outside, she is unflappable, reserved and mature, and picks up on the littlest things in people. Some of her co-inhabitants at the apartment wonder how such a brilliant woman hasn't learned as much Japanese as she should have, though Shen is content to leave them guessing.
At times, Shen can be a little bit too reserved. She is not easily amused and most jokes fly over her head, and she rarely, if ever, smiles. She's a bit of a stick-in-the-mud like that, and sometimes even comes off as sounding and acting like a woman twice (or even thrice!) her age. She lived an immensely sheltered life, so a lot of things like sexual innuendos, technology or the like kind of fly over her head, and she hasn't bothered to learn. Shen has no friends, never goes out, and tends to keep to herself. And frankly, she's content with this...well, at least she thinks so.
In truth, Shen is introverted out of fear. Not for herself, but for everyone else around her. Even though she seems to be calm and controlled, she is a ticking time bomb, waiting to burst. Shen has a good handle on herself as Saturn, as well as her powers most of the time...most being the operative word here. Although she has gained immense control over herself in the years away from her home in Japan, she knows that the dam is just waiting to burst. All of the years of bottling up her anger problems has only made it worse, despite her outwards appearances; and she is terrified of the dam bursting and hurting those she cares about.
Strengths: Calm, mature, focused, excellent at swordplay, observant, resourceful, cunning, fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Weaknesses: Ticking time bomb, introverted out of fear, stick-in-the-mud, dangerous, flighty, very naive, has severe anger problems (which she bottles up to the best of her abilities).
Dreams: Shen doesn't have dreams, only nightmares. In actuality, Shen dreams of being free above all else, feeling as if she's been chained all of her life...past and present.
Fears: Primarily, ever being caught by the Japanese government. She knows that they will carry out the death penalty, but thankfully Saturn would bail her out if need be Shen just hopes to avoid this unpleasantness, though. She's also afraid of ever having to draw the Kurogami again.

[ Present History ]
The Butcher of Shion Iriguchi Hospital.
That is what Shen will forever be known as.
Born as Eizou Musei, she was expected to be still-born like her 3 other brothers and sisters. At first, her parents almost thought so, especially considering she was born 2 months before she was meant to. The doctors tried everything to revive the child; sucking the moisture from her lungs, attempting to stimulate breathing and a pulse, but nothing would work. Her parents were about to start grieving all over again, truly ready to give up on attempting to have a child.
But then it happened.
Musei saw her very first vision of death. The vision alone caused her to stir, and she began to scream and cry out in terror. The doctors swiftly worked on getting her warmed up and to attempt to keep her alive, due to how pre-mature she was born. Several weeks past and her life was secure, but there was one problem: the child never stopped screaming.
For years, Musei continued to scream and be unable to sleep. Although her parents were relieved to finally have a living child, they had no idea what was wrong with her. The doctors were baffled, and with good reason; the visions of death and the Song of Melusina never stopped. Eventually, she began to calm down, the screaming ceasing at age 4. Her parents thought that the phase was over, glad to have their child back with them.
But they were wrong.
Musei's Song and visions never ceased. It was merely that she was getting used to it, though she still had trouble sleeping at night. Eventually, she found that she need to speak up about what was going on, especially once she figured out what it was she was hearing and seeing. She came forward to her parents with this at the age of 8, who were immediately worried for their daughter's sanity. She began to see a psychologist at this age, who wrote off her "condition" as severe Schizophrenia and Night Terrors. He prescribed multiple medications for her to take, but nothing worked. In fact, it only made things worse.
One year later, at the age of 9, the psychologist pronounced Musei clinically insane and had her inducted into a psychiatric hospital: Shion Iriguchi. It was one of the best hospitals in Tokyo, and he promised both her and her parents she would get better soon.
She didn't.
Musei went under multitudes of treatments that got progressively worse as she didn't get any better. In fact, the more they drugged her up, the worse her symptoms became. In truth, due to the immense amount of drugs they put the poor child on, her restraints and protection around her sleeping self, Saturn, as well as her handle on her visions, began to deteriorate. So much so that during a treatment session when she was 12, Musei grabbed a syringe meant for her and stabbed her nurse in the eye with it with such force it punctured the nurse's brain, killing her instantly.
Musei was labeled as being incredibly dangerous and thrown into a padded cell. She was no longer allowed psychiatric sessions or visitors, the hospital banning her parents from seeing her. She was only allowed food and had to be put into a straight jacket before receiving meds or other tests.
And Musei continued to get worse.
At the age of 16, Musei completely fell off the deep end. Unable to control her powers as Saturn, with her visions only getting worse, her powers partially awoke one day. She ripped through her restraints and grabbed the doctor by the throat, digging her finger nails in. When the nurse tried to sedate her, Musei released a powerful shock-wave of destructive energy that killed the nurse. After suffocating the doctor and dropping him to the floor, the Irakage appeared from her back and she ripped them out, blasting through the door to her cell.
Musei proceeded to butcher everyone in the hospital. Man, woman, child; hospital worker and patient alike. With her immense strength and destructive energy, no one could put up a fight, even security. By the time she killed everyone inside, the police showed up; but even they couldn't stop her. Musei cleaved her way through the police line and walked outside, still driven mad by the screaming Song in her ear, and how she couldn't control herself.
Her parents were at the scene, to try and calm her. Her loving parents, who hated what they had to do to try and make their daughter better, tried everything to comfort her; but Musei didn't even hear them. She killed them in cold blood, and it wasn't until they lay dead at her feet that she realized what she had done.
The 16 year old girl dropped her blades to the ground. In that moment, her sanity began to return, and Saturn's voice spoke to her: "You are above this. This is not your duty, this needless death. Fight this madness! Fight, and live!" It was then that Musei realized she was surrounded by police officers that were ready to shoot her down, and she knew she had to run.
Musei had killed over 200 people in the hospital, as well as 26 police officers.
Destroying the squad cars before her, Musei ran. She ran and ran and never looked back, fleeing even across the sea to China. She kept on running, even when her feet were bleeding and her legs exhausted, all the way up towards the Himalaya mountains bordering China. It was there, in the cold desolation of the mountains that she discovered a shrine there, dedicated to Buddha. She collapsed at the base of the temple and was taken in by the Monks and Nuns there, and nursed back to health.
She confessed of her immense sin and of the power she held to the singular Monk who knew passable Japanese. To her surprise, he did not judge her, but told her she must mediate and find her path on the Wheel of Life. Musei asked if she could learn from him, and that he and the other Monks were willing to teach her.
Musei began her journey there. She began to learn Mandarin Chinese and also the way of Buddha. Through meditation, she learned to focus and channel inward her anger and her sorrow, and to accept the pain of her past as part of her journey on the Wheel. Her heart would never be able to heal the wounds, but pain is all part of the path to Nirvana. This concept confused Musei, but she focused on it none-the-less.
When she fully awoke as Sailor Saturn 2 years later, it was with less destructive consequences then her previous partial-awakening. The Monks knew that she was some kind of divine being, perhaps sent by Buddha himself, and that she must control herself and her powers. It was then that they began to train her in Kung Fu, and also how to control her powers. However, even though she devoted herself to Buddha, she never took any vows, though she did shave her head and was considered a Nun-in-training of a sort.
Musei felt truly free those years she spent in the Monastery. Free from her guilt, free from the chains that bound her in both of her lives; free from it all. But, even though she devoted her life to Buddha and found serenity in her training, she knew who and what she really was: a destroyer. She was like Mara, the devil who tempted Buddha; but the Monks and Nuns told her that her own Mara was her fear and pessimism. She must learn to conquer it if she is to truly be free.
And she knew she could not hide in the mountains forever.
As loath as she was to admit it, Musei knew that part of her journey on the Wheel was to learn to confront herself and her fears. More over, the Song had begun to ring in her head again, and she knew she would have to leave soon. She had a path to follow, one where she must forever be chained to her duty until the end of al time; one that would never allow her freedom, nor Nirvana.
At the age of 21, Musei knew she had to return to Japan. Something stirred within her, a great calling that told her she had to leave the quiet and peaceful life in China. But, she knew the Japanese government would still want her head on a silver platter, so she had to make some...arrangements.
Adopting a new name, Guang Ying Shen, Musei forged the necessary papers to ensure her false identity. Leaving the security of the place she considered home, she left for Hong Kong and begun to do some research. Birth certificate, death records for her fake parents, passport and a working visa for Japan. She made sure they were nigh-impossible to tell that they were fake, and set off for Japan the same way she left - by swimming the whole way.
Arriving there, she quickly found a Chinese sector of Tokyo and found a job at a small curio shop and became one of the supervisors of a staff of 5. It doesn't pay that well, but it is enough to afford her a small apartment near-by and amenities. Given how little she lived with in China, she doesn't need much.
Now, Shen waits for the day she will be called to her duty once again...and to find some way to claim true freedom from her chains.
[Sailor Saturn]
[ Don’t Close Your Eyes ]
[ The Basics ]
Realm of Power: Destruction
Alignment: It's not really known; she follows Selenity's orders and, to a lesser extent, Uranus or Earth, but is very much a lone-wolf type. She works best alone, especially given how devastating her attacks are. Not that the other Senshi mind this, of course!
Colors: Black, white, deep peacock (#012b45)
Symbol: The sign for Saturn, as seen on the top.
[ Return to Me Salvation ]
[ A Look Deeper ]
Uniform Description:
Weapon: Sailor Saturn has two weapons; the main of which is the Irakage, a pair of identical katana. The blades are stored in her back and she pulls them out of her flesh, and have the appearance of being made out of bone, with blackened blades. It initially hurt to draw them, but now the pain is just part of her transformation.
The secondary weapon of hers is more threatening. It is a massive Nodachi titled the Kurogami, which is always wrapped tightly in black silk with black ribbons. It always remains strapped to her back, but you never want to actually see it. Once the wrappings are undone, the blade is further more wrapped in silk strapping. The entire blade is black, from the hilt to the blade to the scabbard, and appears to be any traditional Nodachi. However, once fully unwrapped and drawn, it pulsates with dark runes and holds the power to end the world. Even if she doesn't utter the words to bring all to ruin, the blade in and of itself could level a great deal of Tokyo without much effort.
Silhouette Strike
Ebon Pulse
Death Reborn Revolution
Battle Style: A lone fighter, Saturn is ruthless in battle. She will fight until her last breath and will stop at nothing to end her enemy. She believes very little in mercy, and tends to think in black and white terms. Given how powerful and destructive her attacks are, she prefers to work alone and doesn't take orders very well, either. She will listen to her higher-ups if the situation calls for it, but otherwise she prefers to work solo. Not that anyone would want her working with them; pretty much everyone in the Court is downright terrified of her.
Warrior Personality: As Sailor Saturn, Shen becomes much more jaded and apathetic towards the world. While she still holds the same maturity and humility her civilian counterpart has, she knows she is disliked and knows what she is good for: destruction. Saturn does understand that her ultimate power is not to be taken lightly, it doesn't mean that she isn't scary in battle. Once the blood gets pumping, her calm and mature nature begins to vanish into a cold and silent killer. Thankfully, Saturn's anger is a very controlled, under-the-surface kind, which makes her even more dangerous to face; but less explosions in the end. You know she's really pissed off when she starts randomly blowing stuff up for no reason, and then you want to run...fast.

[ It Ends Here Tonight ]
[ The Story of the Past ]
Sailor Saturn wasn't always a forbidden warrior; the warrior hopelessly chained to her fate...quite literally!
Long ago, back when the Silver Millennium was first founded, Saturn was as much a member of Queen Selenity's court as the other Senshi. She was the most powerful, but never dared to draw her nodachi, knowing the terrible price she must pay in order to do so. She was mature and full of humility of her own powers, but never dared to speak out of the truth of her might or her true purpose: the power to end it all and bring everything to ruin.
The first Queen Selenity eventually found out, however.
She grew fearful of the immense power that Saturn wielded, terrified that she might abuse this might for her own satisfaction. Even though she knew that Saturn would never dare fully draw the blade unless nessisary, it was through the original Selenity's fear that Saturn was persecuted throughout all times.
When she ordered Saturn be sealed and chained, Saturn did not fight against her. She willingly gave herself up to offer security for the Queen of the Moon Kingdom, even though she knew that it wasn't right. But, Saturn also knew that if she fought any of the Queen's soldiers, she would have killed them...and those women were her trusted friends and allies, and she would not turn on them.
So it was that Sailor Saturn was bound and chained in the heart of her castle. Hovering off of the floor, the Kurogami was taken from her and placed on an alter before her, sealed with the power of the Ginzuishou. Then, without even bothering to say goodbye to her once-friend, the first Queen Selenity used the Ginzuishou to magically seal Saturn in place, and put her into an almost-fully comatose state.
Saturn spent most of her time asleep or in a coma. She did not age or wither, nor did she need eat, drink or use the bathroom. The Ginzuishou preserved her completely, though she did still breathe slowly. Saturn rarely woke, though she was always dully aware of her surroundings. Sometimes, when people spoke to her, she could even hear them in her state, though she could never respond.
Over the 1000 years that past of her confinement, the Saturian castle fell into ruin. The Kingdom no longer existed, and the visitors that came dwindled. Soon, Saturn was merely a story mothers told their children to frighten them at night, though the courtiers of the Silver Millennium knew better.
The only one that ever came to her was Hyperion, her Guardian. But Hyperion's job was more-or-less to ensure the wards surrounding Saturn hadn't worn away or failed, though many of them told her of what was going on in their kingdom. Saturn hasn't woken up since before the new Princess Selenity was born, as her moments of wakefulness and lucidity were growing more and more scarce.
However, Saturn did have one visitor during this time frame. Charon, the Guardian of Pluto, made frequent visits to the comatose Senshi. Although she didn't always hear what the Guardian said to her, she was thankful for her presence and that she did not fear the Soldier of Destruction. Perhaps it was fate that one day, Saturn awoke for the first time in nearly 18 years during one of these visits, startling the Guardian. She thanked Charon for her visits and wished that, perhaps, under different circumstances, that they could have been friends. But the moment was short lived, as Saturn slipped back into a comatose state.
But then, it happened.
The Song of Melusina began to sing in her head, and for the first time since her confinement, Saturn awoke, and did not fall back asleep. Hyperion immediately notified the Moon Kingdom of this, as it was a terrible portent. Saturn knew that the time had come for her to finally use her power, and as the days grew along, the Song became louder and louder. In her head, Saturn could see the deaths of everyone in the Silver Millennium, including her own. And she was not afraid.
The day of the final battle on the Moon, Princess Selenity came to her. Saturn addressed her politely and the two exchanged pleasantries. Selenity then broke the chains that bound Saturn and the Kurogami, the silent warrior removing the silk coverings from the blade and slinging it across her shoulder, following the young Princess to the Moon Kingdom.
It was then that they encountered the final Shade Senshi, one Sailor Nemesis. Saturn fought fiercely against the warrior, the Song turning into a loud scream throughout the battle. Nemesis shattered her bone Katana, forcing Saturn to use the still-seathed Kurogami to fight. Then, during the battle between the trio, Selenity lost hold of the Ginzuishou, which made it's way to Nemesis.
A crack appeared on the crystal, and the Song abruptly stopped.
Saturn unwound the final wrappings on the Kurogami, slowly drawing the blade. She knew the time was right, she knew the time was now. Softly, she spoke the words needed to turn all to dust: "Death Reborn Revolution." And, with a swing of her massive blade, she destroyed the remnants of the Silver Millennium...herself in the process.

- Head: When Saturn transforms, no matter what color her dye job is, her hair always returns to it's natural color. She has no head-piece, just the symbol of Saturn on her forehead in back (though it's usually hidden by her bangs).
- Collar and Neck: Saturn's collar is a very loose piece of black silk material, draped across her shoulders. It's not quite off the shoulder, but fairly close. The fabric is small and allows for ample room for her to draw her swords. She also has a pair of black metal pauldrons hanging out from under the collar, edged in white. At her neck she has a black belt that holds the collar of her top in place.
- Top: Saturn's top is basically a halter, with a plunging V neckline, showing off a nice amount of cleavage. It is peacock blue, trimmed with white along the V-neck. It comes up to her neck and wraps around the back of it, with a bit showing in the front. It leaves her back exposed for easy-access to her blades.
- Skirts: Saturn wears 3 skirts; the first is her under skirt, a peacock blue mini-skirt that is loose enough where she can fight in it. Over that she wears black chain mail that forms a v in the front and a v behind her. Finally, she has a long over skirt that is open in the front, and falls down to the ground. It has a slit up the back for easy movement, and is hand-dyed to fade from white to peacock to black at the very ends, and is lined with peacock blue satin. It is slightly torn along the edges.
- Body Armor: Saturn wears black plate armor, starting at her bust and covering her waist and the tops of her hips. It has 3 plates total, and is lined along the bottom with white. It forms a v in the front of her. Connected to the bottom of this by several black belts is more black plate mail. This time it is two plates, unadorned, and covers her hips and behind.
- Arms: Saturn has long white leather gloves that reach to her armpits and are held up by peacock blue belts. Over them she has black gauntlets and hand-guards, followed by black clawed finger armor for further protection.
- Legs: On her legs, Saturn wears black stockings that reach her mid-thighs, and stay up well enough on their own (Sorry, Earth!). Under them she has black knee-high boots, and wears black greaves over that. They have knee and foot guards at the top and bottom, and she also wears white metal toe covers on the tips of her boots.

- Sequence: Whispering "Silhouette," Saturn holds her blades to her sides. Her entire body becomes engulfed in ghostly energy, though her eyes remain bright. Slowly drawing her blades back in an attack position, Saturn leaps forward and shouts "Strike," slashing her blades out and releasing two large, crescent-shaped blades of black energy.
- Effect: The blades are fast-moving and will cut through most anything with relative ease, though a very strong or magical shield might help. Saturn can control where they go and can seek out targets with them, making it very difficult to dodge. But they will cut through anyone, friend or foe alike. This is her favored attack because of how much control she has over it, and that is less destructive (though still so) then her other attack.
Ebon Pulse
- Sequence: Saturn holds her twin katana to her sides, the tips just barely against the ground. Closing her eyes and lowering her head, she whispers "Ebon" and the swords begin to pulsate with black, ghostly energy. Raising them elegantly above her head, the blades laying flat against each other, her eyes open, revealing them to be blackened pools. Shouting "Pulse," She swings her blades downwards and releases a massive blast of black energy.
- Effect: Releases a somewhat slow-moving, but incredibly powerful blast of negative, destructive energy. While it is stronger then her other attack, due to how much slower it moves it makes it easier to dodge, but it's still tricky. It creates a massive explosion once it hits something, and does not discern from friend, foe or innocent within its radius.
Death Reborn Revolution
- Sequence: Fully unwrapping and drawing the Kurogami, Sailor Saturn holds the massive blade upright, pointing the tip up to the heavens. She draws her fingers slowly along the blade, summoning a ghostly aura around it. Whispering the phase, she then raises it above her head and then slashes it downwards, releasing a massive blade of energy that cuts into the earth. The ground then explodes with violent chaotic energy, tearing the planet apart.
- Effect: This is the attack Saturn is most feared for. With three words and a simple action, she will bring all to ruin. While the planet will heal with time, everything will be reduced to ash, including Saturn herself. Once started, nothing can stop this devastating attack from finishing its course. Despite what the others think of her, Saturn will not use this attack unless she deems it absolutely necessary.
Passive Abilities:
- Song of Melusina: This ability has two outcomes: the main one is her ability to see deaths before they happen. She sees it almost constantly, but has now gotten used to it. With it comes a "Song" that plays in her head, which often tells of foreboding, death or, in some rare cases, hope. It was this subtle change in song that called her back to Japan, and sometimes sings when something important is about to happen. It terrified her as a child, but now she's more used to it as an adult. Still doesn't make things better, though.
- Lady of Destruction: Even when not in her Senshi form, Shen does have some of her Senshi's powers, though to a much lesser degree. Of note, she can still summon her katana from her back and harness minor destructive energy. She is also a skilled fighter (though training in Tibet with Monks didn't hurt) in combat as well.
