[ Alexis Caldwell-Blakeney]

[ Catch Me As I Fall ]
[ The Basics ]
Name Meaning: Defender of the cold, dark island
(Alexis from the Greek "alexo" meaning "to defend/to help" // Caldwell from Old English meaning "cold well" // Blakeney from Old English meaning "cold/dark island")
Nick Name: "Angel" (but only her father can call her this), "Lexi", "Alex"
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi-sexual, but so far in the closet she's having tea with Mr Tumnus.
[ Sweet Ruptured Light ]
[ Appearances ]
Hair: Pale pink, mid-back length with a slight wave, and quite thick, so she rarely tries to do anything more exciting with it than clip it up to keep it out of the way. Alexis very rarely wears it down, though it has been known. She much prefers to do as little with it as possible, so it is most often clipped up at the back and left alone.
Face & Eyes: Facially, Alexis is not the most traditional beauty. Her cheekbones are quite well pronounced, often giving the impression that she is sucking her teeth in annoyance. Her brows are almost constantly arched, so she can look both like she is annoyed, amused, or waiting for you to tell her what you have done wrong. They are immaculately plucked into shape, and are the same shade of pink as her hair. Alexis' eyes are a soft purple in colour and framed by pink lashes (which are always mascara-ed, unless it's first thing in the morning), they have a very typically Western shape.
Body Type: Six feet tall, slim and toned with only marginal shape.
Clothing Style: Terribly old-fashioned, very modest, very lady-like. Looks very much like she's tripped and fallen out of the Victorian era.
[ Don't Turn Away ]
[ A Look Deeper ]
Personality: Looks can be deceiving, and in Alexis' case they most certainly are. At first glance she appears to be a stern, cold and severe young woman, old before her time with no concept of enjoyment. That couldn't be further from the truth. Warm, giving and loving, Lexi is a very maternal and feminine woman. She has a gentle and compassionate nature, and is always willing to lend a hand, she has time enough for everyone, no matter what her own tasks for the day are. She adores her friends and treats them as her family; they are welcome to meals with her, holidays with her, and perfectly welcome to turn up unannounced on her doorstep (though if her friends from England manage to do that now she's in Japan, Alexis will be very surprised indeed!). She caters for everyone, and would never turn anyone away. Alexis is the sort of woman who helps old ladies to cross the street and carry their shopping bags home, before making them a nice cup of tea and bringing them a slice of cake.
Her personality isn't all sweetness and light, however. Alexis is, after all, only human, and has flaws as we all do. Her biggest problem is that Alexis is so old-fashioned and traditional that she finds it almost impossible to understand everyone else's way of life. To her, it is perfectly normal to sit at home of a Friday evening and knit, perhaps whilst watching Hercule Poirot on her DVD player. What all this galavanting about, wearing what looks like glorified lingerie, whilst gyrating to horrible noise (sorry, music) and getting inebriated... She just doesn't understand it. She has been brought up on old traditional values, and they have become almost an obsessive compulsion; Lex Will Not eat in the street, she Will Not smoke, she Will Not wear black underwear. Nor will she get her ears pierced more than a hole in each lobe, nor get a tattoo, nor drink anything other than wine, champagne, or spirits (such as rum, brandy or whiskey). She is not above lecturing someone on their way of life.
Alexis is a very fastidious young lady, and likes everything to be just so. Her house is organised from top to bottom, and cleaned every other day. Her books, CDs and DVDs are organised alphabetically and in genre-order. She has a paranoid fear that someone is going to break in, (so she has to check every door and window is locked before she goes out, sometimes more than once, and sometimes returning partway to her destination because she wasn't sure if she had checked properly or not), or that the house is going to burn down in her absence because of plugs left on, so everything must be turned off before she leaves the house.
Upon talking to Alexis for the first time, one would be forgiven for thinking that she was nothing more than a stuck-up know-it-all with an awful lot of money and a very big head. Whilst Lexi is very intelligent (and knows it, and has a bad habit of looking down on people who she deems as 'stupid'), she is not stuck-up; she does know she is from a very wealthy, privileged background, and that she is very different from other people, she just has a habit of forgetting that not everyone's parents can afford to pay the skating rink to open on a Sunday so she can get extra practise in.
Lexi just wants to have her happy ending, however. She wants to be swept off her feet by her romantic hero (not heroine. No, definitely not. That is just not done), and whisked away for a long seduction somewhere romantic. She hasn't quite figured out where yet, but it just has to be romantic. She is, however, so far in the closet she is finding snow, ice and trees. She has thought about being with a woman, but then stopped thinking about it pretty quickly.
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Dreams: Alexis would love to become the headmistress of her very own private school, probably in England, though she is growing to adore Japan and its culture. Her love of teaching far surpasses other loves and hobbies in her life (save her father, of course), and it would be a dream come true to be a headmistress. Even though she holds her PGCE teaching degree, she is currently only working as an assistant teacher, as most schools in England only wish to hire teachers with experience of working within a school for a prolonged period of time.

[ Present History ]
Alexis Caldwell-Blakeney, formally known as Lady Alexis Caldwell-Blakeney of Maidstone, only daughter and heir to the Caldwell-Blakeney title and lands, has never wanted for anything. Doted on and raised by her adoring father after the tragic death of her young mother, Lex grew up in the lap of luxury. Anything she wanted, she had; from a pony and riding lessons to figure-skating lessons because she saw Torville and Dean on the television. Lex was spoiled, and her father knew it. However, he did not wish her to become the sort of woman he detested, and so raised her with the same values he had been raised with as a young boy, back in the day. Alexis grew up speaking "The Queen's English", dropping no letters, including no glottal stops, and never, ever shortening words. Her speech was impeccable, her carriage smooth and graceful after lessons from a deportment tutor coupled with her love of figure-skating.
Alexis, showered with love and affection from her father, and loving respect from their servants, grew up into a caring, compassionate young lady. She adored her father, and was a well-behaved child as her breeding and raising warranted. And to be honest, Lex would never do anything to hurt her father. She did not attend school for the first few years of her life; instead she had two private tutors and a governess, further deepening her preoccupation with all historical and her traditional values. She attended secondary school, a very exclusive private academy, where she displayed excellent intelligence and a stunning grasp of languages. Alexis was not hugely popular amongst her peers; she was too severe-looking, and far too old-fashioned. This saddened the girl; as really all she wished to do was sit and chatter happily about everything under the sun. It didn't help that she was often hospitalised due to different illnesses; none of them fatal, but all of them making her thoroughly ill for long periods of time.
Through hard work, she managed to pass her secondary schooling with some of the best marks in the year, and Alexis went on to college to take her A-levels in languages. When she wasn't studying, she was at the local rink, practising her figure-skating. She had private lessons bi-weekly, but also went down as often as possible to just practise and enjoy being on the ice. She worked through her illnesses, and spent many weeks of her summer holiday lying in bed being tended to because she had - once again - overdone it. After college Alexis packed her belongings to move on-site at Eton to take a PGCE and secondary Japanese language course.
Doing university was a definite jump for Alexis; she had never been so far away from her beloved father, and she had to start learning how to cope with a different set of people from her usual group of friends. Initially she struggled with the changes; she became sick and was admitted to hospital with a ridiculously high temperature, but she was released after two weeks. As with school, it took Lex a long time to fit in; her old-fashioned nature and manners seemed to both amuse and perplex her fellow students. Nonetheless, as with school, she found a group of people she could associate with - and become friends with - and she decided that university wasn't all that bad after all. Her grades were wonderful, as it had been anticipated, and her lecturers tried to persuade her to go onto a pure linguistics course, extolling the virtues of being a translator, all the travel she could do, the money she could make. But Alexis had a dream, and she was determined to follow it; she wanted to be a teacher.
When she graduated from university with a First in her degree, Alexis began searching for her job. Much to her disappointment she discovered that teaching jobs for newly-qualified teachers (even one who had qualified with such a high mark) were few and far between; schools wanted experienced teachers. Never had she been told she could not have what she wanted in such a way, and it almost broke Alexis' heart. She couldn't imagine not gaining her lifelong dream of having a school and being a headmistress, and how could she do that without first having been a teacher? It was a logical progression! She sulked for quite some time, until her dear friend Susanne came up trumps. One evening, when the three had met up for a nice meal in London, she presented Alexis with a printout of a website advertising for assistant language teachers in Japan. All they asked for was a degree (which she had) and a love of travel and children. Check, check and bingo! Lexi signed up, and within five months was heading out to Japan.
She had never been to the country before, and it was very frightening initially. Moreso because she was further away than her father than she had ever been in her life. And living in Japan was so much more difficult than just learning about it. She had the language, but could not get to grips with an accent other than her own high British. She had the knowledge of the culture, but being amongst it was so different. And initially, all the children in the classes she assisted with seemed terrified of her. Maybe it was her hair, maybe it was her height, or maybe it was her stern face, but it broke her heart. She just wanted to go home. She was tired all the time, felt ill all the time, and felt like she had no-one to turn to.
But Alexis Caldwell-Blakeney is a bloody stubborn woman (a trait her father says she inherited from his mother), and she was determined to stick it out. Eventually the children in her class realised that she wasn't so mean and nasty, and that she was actually good fun and loving, and she grew to understand more of the culture of Japan. Yet still, she felt as though something was missing. She felt as though she were waiting for something, but what it was, Alexis couldn't be sure. Ever since she had arrived in the country she had been experiencing strange dreams. She would see people she recognised when asleep but had no idea of their identity the moment she awoke. There were people in it, people she knew and loved desperately. Lexi forgot their names as soon as she woke, and she hated that; she wanted to know who they were, she knew they were important.
And then there were the other dreams; dreams where her ears were filled with screams of anguish, her heart wrenching in her chest as though it might break away with the agony of it all. People in uniforms unlike anything she had seen in the military or airforce or navy in any time period, fighting, dying, crying... She hated it; she had no idea what the reasoning behind these odd dreams were. And to be honest, she really doesn't want to find out.

[ Don't Close Your Eyes ]
[ The Basics ]
Realm of Power: Ice
Alignment: Her people, then Selenity and the other Sol senshi.
Colors: Peacock (#33A1C9), Powder Blue (#B0E0E6), White (#FFFFFF)
Symbol: Symbol for Mercury.
[ Return to Me Salvation ]
[ A Look Deeper ]
Uniform Description:
[/li][li]Upper body: On Sailormercury's shoulders rests a dual-layer sailor collar in "Peacock" and "Powder Blue". Below this is the top of her dress, over which rests Sailormercury's enamelled blue body armour. The armour is enchanted against magical attacks, and is decorated with her symbol, which is engraved top centre, and hanging as a charm at the bottom centre. Below the sleeveless dress is a blouse, the sleeves of which are opaque and made of light material to keep the senshi cool during battle. They are white, with the faintest hint of "Powder Blue" at the top.
[/li][li]Lower body: The skirt of Sailormercury's dress is full, with lots of fabric gathered at the back. It is mainly white, with "Peacock" bleeding up from the bottom hem. At the front, the skirt is gathered up to knee-hight on the left-hand-side, and held in place with a tear-drop-shaped Tanzanite broach.
[/li][li]Feet: Sailormercury's shoes are simple t-bar pumps in "Peacock".
[/li][li]Other: Leather gloves embroidered with protection spells (in "Peacock") ; Tanzanite studs in ears.[/li][/ul]
Weapon: Caduceus (the staff of the two snakes) - Sailormercury wields a silver staff which is roughly six foot five inches in height, and has a white-blue sphere as the top. Just below the that sprout two wings, stretching for about five inches each side. The wings are intricately detailed with feathers, as though the silver ornaments were, in fact, real wings. Down the shaft of the staff two snakes wind, carved into the shaft itself. Their heads reach just below the beginning of the wings.
Krystallos Aella (Ice Whirlwind)
[/li][li]Effect: In a way much like a tornado, the Krystallos Aella picks up debris as it advances forward. It is not a greatly large whirlwind (it is about the same height, perhaps a little taller, as Sailormercury ), but has high wind-speed, and the ice that swirls with the wind is razor-sharp. It will stop when it meets something significantly larger than itself, such as a building or a magical barrier, exploding the sharp ice particles outward with a five foot radius. If it reaches its intended target, the Krystallos Aella will surround them, slicing at clothing and flesh with the ice and debris, until its energy is spent. The average time for the Krystallos Aella to persist is roughly one minute from release. [/li][/ul]
Jotnar Stampede (Ice Giant Stampede)
Battle Style: Mercury is mostly a magical fighter, with only limited armour. However, due to Alexis' well-toned and lightly-muscled body, she can certainly land a few melee hits if the necessity arises.
Warrior Personality: Though not a great deal changes when Alexis becomes Sailormercury, there are subtle differences in her attitude and thought-processes. Her usual unapproachable demeanour appears accentuated, making her even less easy to speak with, and her tone becomes more clipped. It seems as though her attachments as Alexis (her father, mostly) are annulled, and all she is concentrating on is ensuring the battle is over very quickly, and very mercifully; she sees no necessity in maiming and/or killing absolutely everything in sight.
Passive Abilities:
[/li][li]Cool-down. - In a situation like battle, where one is usually dripping with sweat after a large amount of physical exertion, Mercury...is not. Even as Alexis, she is never over-heated (fevers not included). In addition to this, she does not get too cold; even when figure-skating, Alexis is content without wearing a coat, hat, or gloves. When woken to her memories, She is also capable of cooling down things by holding them and concentrating on the idea of them becoming cold.[/li][/ul]
[ It Ends Here Tonight ]
[ The Story of the Past ]
"The Ice Princess of Mercury". "Cold-hearted ruler". "Emotionless". She knew what she was called, had heard the fleeting whispers throughout court when she attended Selenity. But to be honest, Mercury's princess was used to it, and she didn't mind so much. She had no illusions about herself or her planet, she liked to be regarded as icy; it ensured she was left alone; people didn't bother her, and could not hurt her. Although very friendly and caring, Rin was shy, and therefore acted aloof. She was also very particular about whom she befriended, and other than a union she regarded as disasterous and never-to-be-repeated, the only one who could get close to her, find their way through her icy barrier, was her guardian Maia.
Rin spend little time at Selenity's court, preferring instead to remain on her own planet reading, learning, and teaching. Mercury's princesses were invariably intelligent, though their intellectual fortes seemed to change with each rebirth. Silver Millennium Mercury's forte was biology. She knew the workings of her planet so well, so well it was as though she were connected with the sphere. She longed to further share her knowledge, but her icy reputation preceded her everywhere, and there were few who dared come to her for teaching. She could not explain to her subjects that she avoided company because of her unnerving ability to sense their emotions; she was sure they would either be unable to understand or would assume she was psychic. Neither option was palatable to her, so she kept her silence, and kept her distance. She reasoned also, that her role was defender and protector, and if had to fight, and to die if necessary. Why risk getting too close to someone if there was a chance she would die? It would hurt them, and she hated people being hurt.
Only with her beloved Maia did she let loose.
She had made an exception, once, to the rules she had placed upon herself. In the infrequent times she had spent in the Court of Selenity she had met another senshi. Seijun, the princess of Mars, was her polar opposite, commanding the powers of fire and flame, and a formidable warrior in her own right. Maybe it was just because opposites attract, or perhaps it was that the scholarly Rin was fascinated by the active Seijun. Whatever the reason, she was attracted. She spent many a pleasant hour in the company of the other senshi, though her shyness prevented her from saying many of the things she had wished to. Perhaps, she had hoped, the time would come when she would have the courage to do so.
Rin had been preparing for another journey to Selenity's court when she heard the servants gossiping. Normally she would have ignored them, but she had heard Seijun's name and couldn't help her curiosity. The things the two women were talking about made Rin's heart go as cold as the ice she commanded. She was not to know that the rumours were gross exaggerations of an altercation between Seijun and Jupiter's princess; all she understood was that Seijun had dismissed the other senshi as not worth her time.
And so...I am not worth her time.
Perhaps if Rin had spoken to someone - even Selenity - about what she had heard, she would have learned the truth of the matter. As it was, she withdrew in herself. Unless summoned, Rin did not attend Selenity's court, nor did she respond to any communication from Seijun. She felt betrayed, and if it had not been for Maia she may well have locked herself in her castle and refused to leave. Instead, her guardian brought her out bit-by-bit, reminding her of who she was. She placed her feelings for Seijun in a box within her heart and locked it, returning her concentration to those she knew were important; Maia, and her people.
Naturally, Rin knew of the friendship between Uranus, Selenity and Earth, and had no interest in attempting to become that close with them, not after her last disaster. She might have come across to many as cold and strict as her name implied, but the princess strove to be fair, and her people accepted that, and even though some would see her as being too cold, others revered her for her empathic nature.
Life upon her planet was simple. Whilst not as flowered and bright as the likes of Earth, the planet was cool and crisp, with many beautiful ice-blossoming plants. It was a peaceful place, though one area of her palace was less than peaceful; the training arena was where Sailormercury practised her magic to ensure it stayed sharp. Of course, there hadn't been any real threats to the Sol System in quite some time, but she was a perfectionist and wanted to ensure that it would be unlikely for her powers to wane.
Rumours of the possible relationship between Selenity and either Earth or Uranus reached the cold planet, but its ruler ignored them. What interest did she have in the politics of the court and the others? She had never been interested in politics before, why should she be now? She would always swear her fealty to Selenity and her court, but she genuinely had no interest in the day-to-day workings. She even managed to ignore the cold sting of pain at the thought that others within the court had found someone yet she had not.
News of the murder reached the planet quicker, and when she heard it Mercury felt as cold as her planet. A murder the mighty Princess Selenity and her people could not solve could not bode well for any of them. Her trips to the practise arena grew more frequent, her rests and time for reading grew shorter.
When the Shades came, with their armies, Mercury was as ready as she could possibly be. She called her guardian and hurried to be where she belonged; fighting for the sol system. She was swift on her feet, sending in attacks as fast as she could. Jotnar Stampede drained her, however, and she found it hard to keep up with the rest of the warriors. She was determined to continue fighting, even though she was growing wearier. She could feel the anguish resonating from the people around her, her gaze was getting blurry from the tears she would not shed in public for the fallen. She had to watch in enraged grief as one by one her comrades fell, her beloved Maia fell, leaving only her. She fought blindly, tears now escaping because it was just her, her alone. She had lost her beloved ones, they died to protect her. She had to avenge their deaths, somehow... The killing blow came from behind, a cowardly enemy driving a blade deep into her body between her shoulder-blades. She was dead before she hit the ground

Uniform Description:
- Tiara:
- Sequence:
- Sequence: Sailormercury arranges her hands on Caduceus with her right hand below the blue sphere, her left hand about two feet below. She snaps the staff towards the right, holding it horizontal as she calls "Jotnar!". Ice begins to form the side of her where the orb is, growing larger in mere seconds, until the height of the pillar of ice far surpasses Sailormercury's six feet. (On average, it is about eight feet tall). Sailormercury then holds her staff up into the air in a swift movement, and as she does so the ice pillar shatters, showing a creature that is humanoid, but blue as though with cold, and built with remarkable muscles (much like a traditional giant from faerie tales). Sailormercury shouts "STAMPEDE!", and swings her staff in a downward motion towards her foe. The Jotnar lumbers forward, picking up speed as it goes.
- Effect:
- Empathy.
