[ Fukuromi Akaime ]
[ If I open both of my eyes,
I still see an empty space, so empty,
But if I keep them closed,
Then there's still a chance that something is out there ]
[ Catch Me As I Fall ]
[ The Basics ]
Name Meaning: Magnificent Red Eyed Owl
Nick Name: None
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Sexuality: She considers herself straight by 'natures standards,' but is yet to explore her sexuality so she could be up for anything.
[ Sweet Ruptured Light ]
[ Appearances ]
Hair: Akaime's hair is snow white, and flows like satin right to her hip, rarely touched by scissors. Her bangs are tamed to slide beside her left ear, sweeping straight across her face from the right of her crown, the rest curls beside her face before joining the long river that falls at her back.
Face & Eyes: If her hair wasn't a give away, her eyes certainly will. Almost blood red. Her eyes lack the same pigment as her hair, causing her eyes to shimmer a bright red behind snow white eyelashes, but it's strangely charming and almost serene. Her face is pale and small, sharply pointed at the chin and almost swallowed by the ribbons of hair that cascade around it.
Due to her albinism, Akaime's eyesight tends to fade between good and bad, despite having treatment for her astigatism. Therefore, on occasion she'll be wearing rectangular thick black rimmed glasses (almost hipster style but cooler).
Body Type: Her body is quite developed, not overly tall at 5"4 but with a full C-cup chest and hips to match. Akaime is toned thanks to being a proud participant in Kyudo and regular visits to the local gym. Her legs aren't long, but this is concealed by how slender they are. Her albinism means her skin is awfully pale, causing her to be susceptible to direct sunlight should be outside for prolonged amounts of time without protection. Such paleness causes the only proof of her nationality to be the shape of her eyes, as many mistake her to be Western from a distance.
Clothing Style: Akaime has no conscious knowledge of a clothing style, she was the kind of girl at school that continued to wear her school uniform at the end of the day because she couldn't think of what else to wear. She's digging the monochromatic look at her age, black, whites and grays, as bright colours only frustrate her because of the palid tone of her skin. She believes she might as well walk around like a 1950's portrait.
[ Don’t Turn Away ]
[ A Look Deeper ]
Personality: Akaime is a woman of few words, concise and to the point. She's an observer and abhorent enemy of small talk, choosing to watch quietly rather than commentate on trivial things such as the weather. She likes to think of herself as goal driven, purposeful and direct. Others think of her as rude, difficult and ignorant. But they don't see, they can't tell the amount of details she can pick up from a person simply by standing in their presence for 2 minutes whilst they discuss their day plan.
The constant onslaught of teenage bullying of her hair and skin has caused Akaime to become skeptical of peoples kindness, a double guesser. She finds it difficult to trust people, however that doesn't mean she's incapable of it. She has her close circle of friends, those who can forgive her her silent tendencies and still invite her into the hot Japanese summer with her Factor 100 Suncream and occasional parasol.
She's not an inactive person, having taken up a routine at the gym and keeping with her family tradition in Kyudo, Akaime isn't adverse to going out and enjoying places such as the arcade (she owns at the table flip machine thanks to her upper body strength), fast food joints or cafes. Guys have even been known to take her out on dates just to see her flash a rare smile, but her shyness and unwillingness to trust often means they don't get as far with her as they would like.
But Akaime knows she isn't here to kiss and play nice. She's had her memories since a young age, she understands her purpose.
Strengths: Upper body strength, Kyudo, Painfully strong loyalty, Observational, Hunter.
Weaknesses: Trust issues, Inability to follow her emotions, Communication errors, Solitary attitude.
Dreams: Akaime is yet to discover what she wants from her new existance, for now she follows Artemis' dream of finding Selenity and restoring peace.
Fears: Losing Selenity again, whether it be to the shades or to Earth or Uranus...
[ Candy Clouds of Lullaby ]
[ Present History ]
She was to be their pride and joy. They'd planned a name, they'd painted her room, bought all of her clothes and were totally prepared to have their first child, a beautiful little girl. Akaime was not what they planned.
Pale skinned, with a wisp of snow white hair, frail little Akaime came screaming into the world greeted by shock. Her parents had never heard of albinism, her family had never heard of albinism, her home town had never heard of albinism. Even her own doctors scarcely knew what it was, only noticing it in passing from medical journals and textbooks.
It wasn't until the tears had dried and she opened her eyes, that her parents thought to name her after the blood red pigment of her eyes.
Taking her home required some explaining, but gradually, with plenty of conversations her family were educated on the bizarre nature of her condition, and she continued to grow within a relatively normal, nurturing family unit. Bubbly and full of charm, she was her parents pride but she grew the strongest connection with her grandmother.
Fukuromi was her grandparents adopted name since opening their namesake Kyudo training school, funded not only by lessons but as an owl sanctuary where lucky charms and various other bobs were sold. It was in this school that Akaime grew up, and her parents before her. From the minute she could stand she was taught to hold a bow, and for years the skill was drilled into her memory. But she couldn't shoot straight to save her life. Nobody could understand why. She had her technique down, almost perfected for someone her age, but as soon as she let her arrow fly it was sideways.
From sight tests her doctors discovered that Akaime suffered from astigmatism, a known issue found in the eyesight of Albinos. Her family saw it as such a shame to leave her eyesight as it was, and together they saved and held donation parties at the school to raise money for corrective surgery.
This was the catalyst, the first domino for some of the greatest mental torture Akaime ever had to suffer. As she grew and graduated from school to school, jealous students began to tease her over the close knit attitudes of her family or her generous applications of suncream, whilst others jokingly called her Gaijin for the colour of her skin and hair, regardless of her real nationality. Some particularly nasty girls joked that she was a bastard child and that her father was not her own, but being Akaime, she sucked it up and never found room to complain, although her bubbly exterior was slowly replaced with a stoic, unemotional mask.
Her grandmother was the first to recognise it, and after returning from school one day, Akaime was beckoned to the owl sanctuary. In amongst the rows of dreary feathered sleeping owls sat one in particular, its feathers glowed white as snow much like her hair and as she approached it, its blood red eyes opened in awareness of her presence. It was her owl, a gift, and she named him Orion.
This owl grew very fond of her, and often followed her around the training school, her family safe in the knowledge that he wouldn't fly away. He would perch on her shoulder during training and sometimes she would sneak him out so that he could stand guard at her window whilst she slept. They were the closest of friends, but with him came the dreams, the visions. She would wake up in the morning feeling sick and in a cold sweat, only to see Orion sitting at her window, staring at her with wide red eyes. But gradually she began to understand, her visions became more clear, more nostalgic and when she finally came to full clarity of her mission in this life, she sensed a window close on her family, on everyone she knew.
This continued on for years, a routine of bullying, overzealous babying from her family, rigorous training and reliving the life of Artemis as she slept. She only occasionally allowed Orion to keep her company in her room, usually when she was feeling particularly lonely. She woke up one night from a uniquely dreamless sleep and wandered to the sanctuary to quietly leave feed for the owls as they slept, but the cage was empty. Empty for all but one, beautiful but red soaked snow white corpse.
Somebody had opened the door to let the rest of the owls out, Orion wasn't one to flee. Whomever did this knew he was hers, but with so many suspects it would be a challenge to decide who was guilty. The school ignored her family, and turned their heads at any foul talk of bullying within their halls. Before Akaime could even put together a case file on possible suspects, she was moved to central Tokyo, somewhere her parents hoped, where her differences could be moreso embraced. And to some extent, they were.
Leaving her family was hard, her grandmother moreso, but life in Tokyo was easier. She accustomed to it well, and without the foreshadowing of school bullies at every turn, Akaime turned her attentions to Artemis. With Orions murder, the dreams had stopped, but she still remembered her history as clear as day. She found her new purpose, and every night, she would transform and stalk the streets in search of Selenity.
She hasn't found her Princess yet, although she has caught the scent of 3 equally interesting individuals...
[ Sailor Artemis ]
[ Don’t Close Your Eyes ]
[ The Basics ]
Realm of Power: The Hunt
Alignment: Princess Selenity/Sailor Moon first and foremost
Colors: Silver pink [#C4AEAD], Ivory [#FFFFF0], Beaver [#9F8170]
Symbol: A full ring with a crecent moon within it, points joining at the top in a perfect circle.
[ Return to Me Salvation ]
[ A Look Deeper ]
Uniform Description: A white headdress is hidden out of sight within Artemis' hair, housing the base to two, large feathers, grey with speckles of white along the edge. Between the feathers, sits a short, dark brown, curved antler with two prongs. A similar hue of brown is painted on her pale face, over her right eye lid as a shadow and with a curved line beneath her left. Her long white hair, is pulled into a tube of beaver coloured fabric wrapped over itself, only freeing it in a soft tuft at the base of her spine.
A square backed, silver pink Sailor Collar rests on her shoulders, with the right point at the front far overlapping the left and a single white line running along its edge. Beneath this collar, sits an ivory coloured, seemingly leather 'muneate,' a half chest plate that protects her breast from the bow string. A sheer material can be seen beneath it through the gap between her collar and plate over her left breast. This sheer fabric continues on past the plate, cascading down beside both hips and around her back, remaining open at the front. Between her sailor collar is a long amaranth cloth that falls to her lower rib, whilst a line of pearls runs past it, before ending in a mixture of her own and her Princess' symbol; a golden ring pendant of an upside down crescent moon, both points joining at the top.
From her left shoulder, erupts a plume of feathers matching those on her headdress.
The sheer fabric around her waist is tucked into the thick band of what looks like a long skirt form of Hakama, that end just above her knees. This skirt is silver pink, to match her collar, and a series of pelts can be seen hanging from her right hip (racoon tail, fox tail and the wing of an unidentified bird).
Almost knee-high boots stretch up her shins with thick laces and little heel. The tongue is also inverted (sitting inside and below the rim of the boot), so as to make sure the boot's as tight as possible.
Silver rings carved with the phases of the moon grip Artemis' upper arms, as folds of ivory silk cascade from them. With her arms by her sides, these rivers of fabric will pile onto the ground by her feet.
Finally, she wears a beaver coloured bracer on her left arm, a thick, leather glove that seals three fingers together with a gap for lodging the end of an arrow. Whilst the bracer itself reaches just to her elbow, the buckles holding it in place are clipped to the silver band on her upper arm.
Weapon: Orion
A slender, long bow made of a matte silver material that Artemis calls out at will with a jerk of her arm. The arrows for this bow are conjured using her magic when the string is drawn, taking a solid form that disappears on contact with its target.
The arrows can also be called for close quarter combat with a clench of her fists, magicing a row of four arrow heads to appear between her knuckles, the sticks of the arrows lining up against her forearm.
Shen Xiù
Battle Style: Artemis tries to remain a long distance fighter, a sniper almost, stalking her enemy wherever possible and remaining out of sight. When caught in a close quarters fight, she will link arrows between her knuckles, and use the arrow heads as blades in a fistfight.
Warrior Personality: Stoic, is the best way to describe her. Creepily quiet is another. Artemis is as careful with her words as Akaime if not moreso. She's the silent sentinel, often seen standing off to one side with her eyes guarding her treasure, Selenity.
Passive Abilities: Nocturna
If you see an owls eyes at night, you will see the iris expand disproportionatly to help cope with the darkness whilst it turns its head to get a 360 scope of sound on its location. In a similar fashion, Artemis' iris' fill the whites of her eyes to allow her to cope with the darkness as though she were walking in daylight. Much like an owl also, in the night Artemis' hearing ability is heightened, making her a brilliant hunter.
[ It Ends Here Tonight ]
[ The Story of the Past ]
The Silent Sentinel.
Sailor Artemis was rarely referred to as anything else outside of the palace gates, her reputation being known moreso than her personality. Artemis was something of a legend within the Moon Kingdom, a proud line of snipers known for their ability to worm out even the most talented of terrorists before anyone else had thought to raise any suspicion. She held the safety of the royal line miles higher than her own or anyone elses and she was always the first to defend them against the minutest of threats.
Naturally talented, she abandoned her original name to be lost to time at a young age, adopting the title of Sailor Artemis and the occupation of protecting Princess Selenity and the Ginzuishou. She wasn't much older than her Princess in fact, and grew up at a similar pace, watching Selenity exceed expectations whilst she did so with her own abilities. But her constant company seemed to displease her Princess, for reasons that she could not understand.
Through her development, Artemis admit to herself that her feelings for Selenity may have been more than platonic, but only to herself. If word should escape of such consort within the Palace heads would likely roll, and she treasured her time with Selenity more than anything she could dream to think of. But the more she found herself thrust into the Princess' company by duty, the more she noticed the tensening of the shoulders, the downward quirk in the corner of her lips and the flinch of her brow. She was unwelcome, and Artemis' heart sank.
Unseen, Artemis would watch the Princess' fleeting meets with the other Senshi from the shadows as commanded, and pick up on interesting traits. The roll of eyes, the brush of an arm, the occasional interlinking of fingers. She was left to watch as strangers grew stronger bonds than she was ever entitled to, but she disallowed her bitterness to interfere, despite its strength.
When the rumours spread, Artemis really stepped up her game regardless of the annoyance of her constant presence. Whilst she attempted to be there for her Princess as a friend, she respected her solitude and simply stood guard, readying her bow at anyone who drew near during the day, and stalking the kingdom streets at night. But even she couldn't see the assassination coming, not of someone so seemingly insignificant.
She'd never been scolded so hard in her entire life. How could she let this happen?! Within her own palace walls! What if it had been Selenity?! What if it had been Selenity?! Artemis pulled all nighters. Neglecting sleep, she pushed herself to guard Selenitys chamber morning, noon and night, she was one of the first to hear of Saturns awakening and it wasn't until the Court Senshi arrived at the gates that she allowed herself to rest, however briefly. She had no choice but to trust them, as she knew what was coming. Artemis was trained to see the signs, she lived them. She knew what to look for when being hunted.
She slept for days, finally awakening to more scolding, but she pushed the nuisance courtiers to one side and took her place perched at the Palace gates, watching carefully from a distance over the Court Senshi standing guard before the unknown enemy, safe in the knowledge that Selenity was behind her. But the Senshi weren't powerful enough against the vicious onslaught, pushing them to fall back, and Artemis fell back with the rest of them, darting for her Princess, but finding only Uranus.
Rage finally overcame her, where was her fucking Princess?! She wasn't pleased by the news that followed. She hesitated to argue, but what could she do now? Who could she argue with and what would it solve? She was finally prepared to take a stand for herself, and the sole reason for doing so was gone. Artemis knew there was no time to be with her Princess again; if she was truely fetching Saturn, not in this lifetime at least.
After a long moment of thought, she sighed in resignation. Uranus had already rejoined the battle, but the fight simply wasn't in Artemis anymore. She'd heard the monstrous tails of Sailor Saturn, she knew that should this Senshi appear, the reason was that this battle was long past any chance of winning. She returned to her perch at the palace gates and looked over the river of red and corpses, the few stragglers who remained, clinging to life, and there was she, crouched at one of the kingdoms highest point with barely a scratch. And the fight was out of her. Pathetic.
All of the scolding sank in finally, the first Artemis in knowing history to fail so seriously. She needed a second chance, and with this revelation, she waited for Saturn to appear, she wished for it. Any attention the Senshi had drawn, sitting precariously atop the giant gates, dissipated with the appearance of the Rebirth Senshi, her Princess...and what looked to be the strongest Shade Senshi.
From such a distance it was difficult to see, but she readied her bow regardless, she could not allow this enemy to interfere. It wasn't until her Princess fell that Artemis had a clear shot, but she was fighting back tears. The high pitched crunch of the Ginzuishou under the Shade Senshi's boot triggered Artemis to allow her arrow to fly, but Saturns weapon was faster, and the Kingdom fell to silence.

- Sequence: Taking her Kyudo stance, she raises her bow high above her head, fingers primed on the string. Orion then begins to glow, and two brilliant white wings sprout from either side of it above her hand, and the white silhouette of a large owl erupts from the weapon, taking its perch on Artemis' shoulder. It displays its wings as Artemis lowers the bow to take aim, and as she releases her bow string, the owl flies to take the place of the arrow with a screech before curving into the sky and dispersing into a series of light arrows that siege the target in a constant barrage.
- Effect: Whilst a standard fire of her bow is all well and good, it's only good on one enemy, and being a long distance fighter catches her at a disadvantage when faced with more than one target at any range. These arrows would hurt you the same way any normal arrow would, cutting fabric and tearing flesh but there are more of them, descending on the ground in a shower of razors around 10-15 feet in diameter.
Battle Style: Artemis tries to remain a long distance fighter, a sniper almost, stalking her enemy wherever possible and remaining out of sight. When caught in a close quarters fight, she will link arrows between her knuckles, and use the arrow heads as blades in a fistfight.
